Share this Unique Birthday Gift with your little Girl or Boy!

Please consider this wonderful gift this year for the young readers in your family. This book was made with love and care as my granddaughter Faith Halseth, my daughter Shawna Neece Fitzpatrick-Harris and I carefully crafted the words, the illustrations, and the watercolor backgrounds to depict and honor this precious young girl from North American history.

This book explains how Sacajawea was an important part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. It shares how she was taken from her family, how she adapted to her situation, how she saved the explorers’ lives through survival tactics that she learned from her Shoshone people. Your child will see how Sacajawea believed in her Creator, listened to her intuition, and courageously walked her path, even though it was hard. They will understand Sacajawea’s message about Love.

We appreciate your purchase as it helps to bring books to other children through our Humanity Shines Organization “Leaves on the Wind” program. 100% of the net sales will be used for that purpose. And we thank you so much!

Be sure to check out the other Grass Maiden products in our online store in the “Just for Kids” Collection – T-shirts, cocoa mug, hats, etc. See the store link below!

What a wonderful and unique gift for your precious child.

Give this Unique and Special Gift to your Child this Year!

We have always been inspired by this young Shoshone girl who made a difference, not only in 1805 but also over the 220 years since. We remember her compassion, her wisdom, her love for her people and her children, we remember her spirit.

Over the past 20 years she has continued to reveal herself in our time, and we continue our quest to share her with the world. This book, The Grass Maiden Sacajawea was created from historical accounts, traditions, and culture. It has a relevant message for the children of today.

Sacajawea represented vision as we read the words, “The end of something is the beginning of something new. Keep walking…”

The Evolution of Sacajawea

Writing the feature film screenplay, SACAJAWEA, The Windcatcher, was more than just writing a story about an icon of history. In fact, I can’t put into mere words the power and scope of the project, and how it completely transformed my life and the lives of others.

After I wrote the screenplay, I didn’t realize what (or how long) it would take to actually produce it into a film. I also didn’t realize how the Universe would show me its darkness along with its most brilliant light – a magnificent light shining through the spirit of this brave heroine.

A few years ago, I began writing down some of my thoughts about Sacajawea and what she had shown me about herself. I knew the harshness of her life was not for children, but there was something she had to say to them. There was something she knew, something she wanted children to learn. That’s when “The Grass Maiden, Sacajawea,” came to life.

As Creation works, it is transformed by stretching and growing, moving and imagining – and with Sacajawea, it was no different. “I’ve never done that before,” was not an excuse. She taught me, and others, that we could try, and we could fly!

I was so blessed when my granddaughter, Faith Halseth, agreed to come with me on this adventure and create together the watercolors for this book. With the painting instruction from my youngest daughter, Jerah Fitzpatrick, and the illustrations by my oldest daughter, Shawna Fitzpatrick-Harris, we were able to bring a visual feast to the words.

There are many ways to embark on a Journey of Discovery. The first step is to realize you don’t have to know everything to walk it – and you already have everything you need. If the journey, or the dream, is written on your heart, there is already a way to reach it!

Share Creation’s Wonders with your Child

Life shows us many things when we open our eyes, ears and heart. And, though we are easily awed by the beauty, there is a much greater purpose, a deeper, more important lesson, and a mystically empowered consequence waiting for us to take the next step. Whether we know it or not, we are aligned with Creation. We are given the tools to show ourselves and others, how the Universe communicates.

Miracles bring us “awe” but what else do they bring us to share? Abundance brings us wealth, but what else does it bring us to share? A gift of nature brings us joy, but what else does it bring us to share? What are we missing when we walk right by the greatness, without paying it forward? Without sharing it with others? Without acknowledging our “Oneness” with it?

In The Grass Maiden, SACAJAWEA, we want to share the wonders of Creation that were personally given to us through the canvas of the sky. We believe we saw these clouds to affirm Sacajawea’s message and inspire our journey to bring it to the world. We have taken just a few of the masterpieces we’ve received over the years and incorporated them into the children’s book. It is our hope they will open a child’s eyes to the affirming love of creation.

Keep watching for the gifts and share the wonders of their beauty, for that is why we have eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to feel. Always proclaim from the mountaintops the magnificent “One-ders” and “One-ness” of the earth!

In this blog post, you see the original photos of the clouds, the watercolor artwork of the photos and the page from The Grass Maiden Sacajawea. We invite you to share this story with your children. Please visit Spirit Wind Collection’s online store. Thank you.

Much love,

Jane
